Lakers and L.A. Kings. We got ready with some energy drink \/ vodka concoctions that I prepared at home with my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00EPEALEM\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00EPEALEM&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=jgar-20&amp;linkId=3DNXACUE7U6CB5G2\" target=\"_blank\">SodaStream<\/a>. We sat in the parking lot for a while and laughed our asses off as we saw people in cars all around us doing the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, after getting \u201cready\u201d and buying a knockoff shirt or 2 in the parking lot, we made our way into the Forum, bought ourselves a pair of authentic shirts ($70 for 2 t-shirts!!!), and found our spots. We were ready for the show to start.<\/p>\n<p>Verdict: The Black Keys are amazing. The show was raw, loud and lived up to the hype. During the opening song \u201cLonely Boy,\u201d you could hear a little clanking and a few off timed beats. I loved it! It was honest and that is more than you can say for most so-called performers these days.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a_426RiwST8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The music flowed seamlessly, with one song after the other serving as a showcase for the Black Keys to demonstrate their power to make people dance, nod their heads in unison and feel. That\u2019s the point of music: you should \u201cfeel\u201d something. Even sad songs\u00a0have the power to make you feel better.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-273\" src=\"http:\/\/jgar.pw\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/BlackKeys_Bandannas.jpg\" alt=\"BlackKeys_Bandannas\" width=\"215\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jgar.pw\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/BlackKeys_Bandannas.jpg 215w, http:\/\/jgar.pw\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/BlackKeys_Bandannas-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/>Most music today makes me feel the urge to turn the damn sound down, but not the Black Keys. There\u2019s a strange satisfaction to hearing a well composed song, and I don\u2019t mean one that is composed in a formulaic way. Most music today feels like it\u2019s struggling to make the listener like it. I feel like there\u2019s a formula out there because all of it sounds the same. The end goal is to sell, not move or create a truly artistic\u00a0piece.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, music shouldn&#8217;t be that way. It should be honest and raw. The goal should be to capture a feeling, an expression, much the way a photograph can capture a moment in time. I think the Black Keys did that. By the end of the show, my only wish was that they had played a few of my favorites, like \u201cIn Our Prime.\u201d Their catalog is that deep &#8211; I wanted more and nothing less.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5a1Cl_JOJM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As I wrote <a title=\"U2 \u2013 Songs of Innocence : Songs of My Youth\" href=\"http:\/\/jgar.pw\/b\/u2-songs-youth\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier<\/a>, the Black Keys are my current music obsession.
